Sunhack Park, Chief Sales Officer, Kia India, said, “Crossing the 5 lakhs sales milestone for the Sonet is a moment of pride for all of us at Kia India. Every Sonet sold represents a customer who believed in Kia and this is a powerful endorsement of the trust Indian buyers have shown us.”
The Sonet is manufactured in India under Kia’s ‘Make in India, for the World’ vision. The model has catered to a wide range of customers, including first-time buyers and young families, and has remained aligned with changing customer preferences in the subcompact SUV segment.
According to the company, the Sonet accounts for nearly 35% of Kia India’s domestic sales volumes. The vehicle has also recorded export sales of over 100,000 units to close to 70 international markets, including regions such as the Middle East and Africa, Central and South America, Mexico, and Asia-Pacific.
Kia India said the Sonet has crossed annual sales of 1 lakh units for two consecutive years. The company attributed this performance to multiple powertrain and transmission options, as well as demand for higher variants equipped with connected and safety features.
The Sonet facelift was launched in January 2024, following its global debut in December 2023. Prices range from ₹ 7.3 lakh to ₹14.09 lakh. The update introduced cosmetic changes and additional features to strengthen its position in the compact SUV segment.
The five-seater compact SUV is offered with petrol and diesel engines. Petrol options include a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated engine and a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol unit, while the diesel version uses a 1.5-litre engine. Gearbox choices include manual, iMT, DCT, and torque converter automatic.
In terms of dimensions, the Sonet measures 3,995 mm in length, 1,790 mm in width, and 1,642 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,500 mm. Ground clearance is 205 mm, and boot capacity stands at 385 litres, consistent across variants.
Exterior updates on the facelift include revised LED headlamps with new daytime running lights, connected C-shaped LED tail-lamps, redesigned front and rear bumpers, and a roof-mounted spoiler. Interior updates feature a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and updated control panels.
The facelifted Sonet also introduces ADAS technology. Safety features such as six airbags, electronic stability control, hill-start assist, and tyre pressure monitoring are standard across all variants. Higher trims offer features including a 360-degree camera, cooled front seats, a Bose audio system, and a sunroof.
In the Indian market, the Kia Sonet competes with models such as the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, and Mahindra XUV300.
