Traffic is likely to be disrupted from Monday afternoon until Tuesday morning on roads near major Chhath ponds, and commuters have been urged to avoid these stretches and opt for public transport.
In east and northeast Delhi, big gatherings are expected at ghats near the Old Iron Bridge, Geeta Colony and at the DND Yamuna Khadar and Shastri Park, each likely to attract tens of thousands of devotees. Slow movement is anticipated around Geeta Colony, IP Extension and Shastri Park.
Commercial vehicles will be barred on GT Road from Shastri Park to Yudhishthir Setu (Bhajanpura) between 5–7 pm on Monday and 5–7 am on Tuesday. Certain roads in Gandhi Nagar and Khajuri Khas will shut or see diversions during the same periods.
In central and north Delhi, the Shyam Ghat in Jagatpur alone may draw over one lakh people, while other ghats like Shani Mandir (Jagatpur) and Vaasudev Ghat (near ISBT) are also expected to see large turnouts. Congestion is likely along Majnu ka Tila, Burari, Wazirabad Road and nearby Yamuna stretches.
South and southeast Delhi will see major crowds at Bhola Ghat (Kalindi Kunj), where 2.5–3 lakh devotees are expected, as well as Aya Nagar, Shiv Ghat (Shri Ram Chowk) and Sangam Vihar. MB Road, Kalindi Kunj Road, Agra Canal Road and Road No. 13 may witness slow-moving traffic.
In northwest and outer Delhi, Bhalswa Lake and the Majlis Park area will see heavy attendance, with diversions expected around Bawana, Holambi Kalan, Narela and parts of the Outer Ring Road.
In west Delhi, gatherings at Surya Upasana Park (Dabri), Vishwas Park (Raja Puri) and a Mangolpuri Chhath Park may cause delays on nearby stretches.
Police said there will be no curbs on routes leading to major railway stations and ISBTs, though commuters should still brace for delays. Roadside parking near ghats is prohibited, and vehicles must use designated lots.
Authorities have called for patience and cooperation, urging people to rely on the Metro and other public transport.
