What is the story about?
At a time when Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is on a four-day visit to Singapore and Japan, Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav allegedly made an "offer" to make any BJP leader the chief minister who can bring 100 MLAs to him.
In a press conference, Yadav said, "It appears he (Yogi Adityanath) would have flown out of India. We are reviving the offer — 100 vidhayak laiye aur Mukhya Mantri ban jaiye (Bring 100 MLAs with you and become the chief minister).
"Mann to dono ka hi hai. Jo layega wo payega. 100 ka offer fir ho gaya. Isse acha mauka kya milega (Both want to be the CM. Who will bring, will get the opportunity. There will not be a better opportunity than this),” the SP chief added.
Adityanath left for a four-day visit to Singapore and Japan on February 22. He would hold discussions on data centre infrastructure, renewable energy prospects, and explore investments in agribusiness and automobile sectors, with meetings scheduled with representatives of Google, Toshiba, Suzuki Motors, among others.
This will be the chief minister's first foreign tour after his visit to Myanmar in 2017. Adityanath is slated to meet representatives of 33 global companies -- 25 in Singapore and eight in Japan -- to explore investment opportunities, technological collaborations and industrial partnerships.
