Traffic restrictions will be in place around Red Road in Kolkata from June 14 to 21 due to preparations for the 12th International Day of Yoga celebrations. Prime Minister Narendra
Modi is expected to attend the main Yoga Day programme on June 21.
According to Kolkata traffic polices, Red Road will remain closed during the period and special traffic regulations will be enforced in nearby areas.
The traffic police also issued a notification about the planned diversions and urged commuters to accordingly plan their journeys.
As per the instructions issued, Red Road will remain closed for all vehicular movement from 10 pm on June 14 to 21 due to preparatory work related to the
International Day of Yoga 2026.
As part of the special traffic arrangements, movement of all goods vehicles will be restricted on several key roads, including AJC Bose Road, Strand Road, CR Avenue and JL Nehru Road, from 2 am on June 21 until theYoga Day programme concludes.
The Kolkata police have also informed that only vehicles with valid stickers issued for the programme will be allowed to use Guru Nanak Sarani (Mayo Road) from 2 am on June 21 to till the programme is over.

Police have also said vehicular traffic may be diverted from arterial and feeder roads as needed on June 21, depending on the crowd situation.

- Gostha Pal Sarani (Kingsway)
- Queensway
- Plassey Gate Road
- Dufferin Road
- Outram Road
- Esplanade Ramp
- South-bound of R R Avenue from the crossing of Esplanade Row East
- JN Island to Outram Road-JL Nehru Road or
- Dufferin Road-Mayo Road for Northward journey
- Dalhousie /Howrah bound buses, coming along Zeerat Bridge may be diverted from Belvedre Road & AJC Bose Road crossing-towards - AJC Bose Road-Turf View-AJC Ramp-St. Georges Gate Road-Strand Road - further north for Howrah/Dalhousie.
- Red Road/Mayo Road crossing along Mayo Road- Dufferin Road- for south ward journey or
- Divert from Govt. Place (E)-Esplanade Row (East)-Esplanade crossing- JL Nehru Road for further southward journey.
- Divert vehicles from CR Das Statue to Kingsway to avail Strand Road further south-St. Georges Gate Road-Hastings crossing-AJC Ramp-AJC Bose Road-AJC Bose Road Flyover or Zeerat Bridge.
