The New Delhi and national capital region (NCR) remained covered in a layer of toxic smog as the Air Quality Index (AQI) continued to stay in the "very poor" category on Thursday, December 18.
The visibility was affected due to the smog and many areas recorded AQI in severe and very poor categories.
As of 8 am, Anand Vihar recorded an AQI at 418 which falls in "severe" category, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB)'s Sameer mobile application data.
Vivek Vihar station recorded AQI at 412, while Jahangirpuri and Wazirpur recorded recorded AQI at 403 levels. The overall AQI for Delhi stood at 358.
Visuals from various locations showed layer of toxic smog blanketing the national capital and affected visibility.
Areas near the India Gate, AIIMS, Mahipalpur, Akshardham temple, ITO, Barapullah flyover, Ghazipur, Kashmere Gate, Dhaula Kuan, Anand Vihar, RK Puram, Najafgarh, and JLN Stadium, among others recorded dense smog and poor visibility along with high AQI levels.
