The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued heavy rainfall alerts for numerous states, including Assam, Meghalaya, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Konkan, Goa, West Bengal, Sikkim, and Rajasthan,
as persistent monsoon showers continue across India.

Heavy rains in AP until September 5
The weather agency predicted heavy rains and thunderstorms in parts of Andhra Pradesh till September 5. Heavy rain is likely at isolated places over north coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning over north coastal Andhra Pradesh, south coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema. The IMD issued a red alert for a few places in north coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam on Tuesday, with ‘heavy to very heavy rainfall’ predicted today.
IMD warns of showers till Thursday in Bengaluru
On Monday evening, Bengaluru witnessed a heavy spell of rain, waterlogging several parts of the city. The IMD has issued a yellow alert for the city and other regions of Karnataka till Thursday, predicting continued showers.
As per the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC),
the rain lasted for nearly an hour. The IMD forecast also predicts isolated heavy rain along coastal Karnataka until Sunday, with South Interior Karnataka, including Bengaluru, expected to receive heavy rain on Wednesday.
Red alert in Uttarakhand
The Met Office issued a red alert for Uttarakhandon Tuesday, forecasting extremely heavy rainfall. Isolated heavy rainfall is likely to continue over the state till September 7, according to IMD. Heavy rain disturbed normal living in Khatima city, Udham Singh Nagar district,
Uttarakhand. Heavy downpour over the last three days swamped low-lying neighbourhoods, causing massive traffic jams and waterlogging.
“Every district in Uttarakhand has been affected by the disaster. There is calamity at Dharali. In Rudraprayag, many places have been hit by the disaster. In Uttarkashi, Bageshwar, Pithoragarh, Udham Singh Nagar and Haridwar, many places are waterlogged. A cloudburst has also occurred in Dehri's Ghansali region,” Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami told reporters on Monday.

The IMD forecasted a generally cloudy sky in Delhi, with the possibility of very light to light rain or thundershowers at many places and moderate rain at a few places. The maximum temperature is expected to be between 30°C and 32°C, while the minimum is likely to stay between 20°C and 22°C.
Authorities in Delhi have ordered that transportation and public movement near Loha Pul be halted beginning at 5 pm on Tuesday, after the Yamuna River exceeded its danger line of 205.33 metres due to
heavy rains across the National Capital Region.
Tamil Nadu sees light to moderate rainfall.
Several parts of the state experienced light to moderate rainfall over the 24 hours ending at 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday, with the Namakkal district receiving the most rain. The Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) has issued a yellow alert for thunderstorms, lightning, and squalls for several districts on Tuesday, except Krishnagiri, Salem, Dharmapuri, Namakkal, Karur, Sivagangai, Ramanathapuram, Virudhnagar, and Kanyakumari. Similar alerts have been issued for
various districts around the state until September 4.

As of September 1, the monsoon season in Himachal Pradesh has claimed 326 lives, according to the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA).
