Swedish home furnishings giant IKEA will launch online shopping in Tamil Nadu, marking its first entry into the state. Starting January 22, customers in Chennai,
Madurai, Coimbatore, and Salem can order from over 6,400 home solutions via the IKEA app and website.
The move comes as the company noted strong enthusiasm from the state as spotted through online searches and social media sentiment among other things. It also has over 25,000 consumers from the state who are already part of the IKEA Family loyalty program.
IKEA India’s Country E-commerce Integration Manager Bhavana Jaiswal said many travel long distances to shop from IKEA.
“Today, online contributes over 30% of our sales and plays a vital role in helping us understand regional needs and everyday life at home, allowing us to strengthen our range and plan more thoughtfully for the future,” Jaiswal said.
The company said deliveries will be made within a week of placing order with long-term warranties of up to 25 years and a year-long return policy.
All orders in the state will be fulfilled via IKEA’s Bengaluru distribution network, with robust logistics ensuring reliable delivery. This launch marks a key step in IKEA’s long-term omnichannel expansion in South India.
“This allows us to meet customers where they are, support everyday life at home, and build long-term relationships in a market that has already shown strong love for IKEA,” Patrik Antoni, CEO of IKEA India said, adding that the launch will also offer lessons in identifying new market and experimenting with market formats.
TRB Rajaa, the state's minister for Industries, Investment Promotions and Commerce, welcomed the move, stating it will strengthen the region’s supply chains and last-mile logistics.
