What is the story about?
The Delhi and Bombay High Courts received a bomb threat email on Friday, September 12, after which the courtrooms were vacated amid panic at the premises. Police is investigating the matter but suspect that the threat was a hoax call.
News agency PTI reported that an e-mail was received by the registrar general of the Delhi high court at 8:39 am.
Some of the judges were informed about the matter.
As the information reached to the judges, they started rising around 11:35 am while some stayed till 12 noon.
The security of the high court's premises has been increased, with a bomb disposal team reaching the complex.
The authorities asked everyone to vacate the court immediately.
"We are carrying out search operations. Fire officials
along with the bomb disposal squad and dog squad are present at the spot," a senior police official said, as per PTI.
"We are taking action and following SOPs. So far, nothing has been found. It appears to be a hoax. Investigation is underway," DCP Devesh Kumar Mahla was quoted as saying by PTI.
