Oscar-winning composer MM Keeravani has composed a special musical tribute for the 2026 Republic Day parade. The acclaimed music director, in an X post, confirmed that he will be performing at the 26th January parade in New Delhi, under the aegis of the Ministry of Culture.
Keeravani said he feels "deeply honoured and privileged" to compose the music for this special occasion.
The performance is a grand tribute marking the 150th anniversary of the national song, ‘Vande Mataram’. The composition will be performed by a massive ensemble of 2,500 artists from across the country.
In a post on X, he wrote, “Dear all, Vande Mataram! On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the iconic song Vande Mataram, I feel deeply honoured and privileged to have composed the music for the 26th January Republic Day Parade, under the aegis of the Ministry of Culture.”
"This grand presentation will be performed by 2,500 artists from across India. Stay tuned as we come together to celebrate the spirit of our nation — Vande Mataram!” he added.
Ahead of the Republic Day celebrations, the rehearsals for the parade are currently underway at Kartavya Path.
The main Republic Day parade will take place on January 26. The Beating Retreat ceremony is scheduled for January 29, with its full-dress rehearsal on January 28.
This year, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President Antonio Luis Santos da Costa will be the chief guests for the celebrations.
Meanwhile, the Rashtrapati Bhavan (Circuit-1) will be closed to the general public from January 21 to January 29 due to the upcoming Republic Day Parade and Beating Retreat Ceremony, according to an official statement issued on Saturday.
