The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday, November 6, issued a yellow alert for Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, forecasting light to moderate rain in these regions.
In its latest bulletin issued at 8 am on Thursday, the Met Office predicted isolated to scattered rainfall activity likely over Tamil Nadu, Kerala, south Rayalaseema and south coastal Andhra Pradesh and the islands for the subsequent three days.
The IMD also mentioned about three persistent weather systems, including a cyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal, a Western Disturbance in middle tropospheric westerlies and a trough extending from the Bay of Bengal across Tamil Nadu to Kerala.
Clear sky with mist in Delhi
On Thursday, Delhi will have clear skies with a minimum temperature expected to hover between 14 and 16 degrees Celsius and a maximum temperature expected to settle between 28 and 30 degrees Celsius. A day earlier, the national capital recorded a maximum temperature of 30.4 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 18.4 degrees Celsius.
The IMD also forecast mist and haze in Delhi until November 11. As of 9 am on November 6, the Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi stood at 278, with the air quality plunging to the 'poor’ category.
Mumbai wakes up to clear skies
Mumbai is experiencing the end of its monsoon season, marked by clear skies and no rainfall for two consecutive days, indicating a shift to post-monsoon conditions.
In Mumbai, clear skies are expected for the day, with only a minimal chance of isolated light showers or thunderstorms in select pockets. Daytime temperatures in Mumbai are expected to be around 33°C, with a minimum of 23°C.
Light to moderate showers in Tamil Nadu
The IMD predicted light to moderate rainfall/thunderstorms at most places with isolated heavy rainfall over Tamil Nadu till November 8. Further, light to moderate rain/thunderstorms are also expected at many places over Rayalaseema and south interior Karnataka on November 6 and 7, along with lightning and gusty winds (speed reaching 30-40 kmph).
