IndiGo on Thursday, January 15, announced the cancellation of three international flights scheduled for January 16 due to the closure of Iranian airspace.
The affected flights include 6E-1816 from Almaty to Mumbai, 6E-1821 from Mumbai to Tashkent, and the return sector 6E-1822.
The airline cited route disruptions affecting Central Asia services and advised passengers to check flight status or contact helplines.
Earlier, Air India, IndiGo, and SpiceJet had issued travel advisories regarding delays and possible cancellations caused by the airspace closure, linked to escalating tensions between Iran and the US.
Separately, Air India’s A350 flight AI101 had to return to Delhi after a ground incident around 5:25 am IST. During taxiing in poor visibility, the aircraft’s No.2 engine ingested a cargo container, causing major damage. A preliminary investigation points to a BWFS tug as the source, where a container reportedly toppled onto the taxiway. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has ordered a probe into the incident.
Passengers of all three airlines were urged to stay updated on flight status and reach out to airline helplines for assistance.
