What is the story about?
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to chair a meeting of chief ministers and deputy chief ministers from National Democratic Alliance (NDA)-ruled states and Union Territories on Thursday, June 11, as the coalition government completes 12 years in office at the Centre.
The meeting is expected to focus on the implementation of key government programmes, progress on the Viksit Bharat vision and challenges emerging from the ongoing crisis in West Asia, Hindustan Times reported, citing people familiar with the agenda.
Following the interaction with NDA chief ministers and deputy chief ministers, PM Modi is also scheduled to chair a meeting of the governing council of NITI Aayog. The meeting is being held amid concerns over rising fuel and cooking gas prices and their potential impact on inflation.
Several senior Union ministers, including Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah, Health Minister JP Nadda, Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, are expected to attend the meeting.
Key development projects to be reviewed
The meeting is expected to review the implementation of key government schemes and development projects being undertaken by the Centre and NDA-ruled states.
“There will be a review of several key infrastructure projects carried out by the Centre and states together, and sharing of best practices. The leaders are also expected to discuss the impact of the West Asia crisis on the economy and supply chain issues,” a BJP functionary told the outlet.
Top NDA leaders to attend
Chief ministers and deputy chief ministers from all NDA-ruled states and Union Territories are expected to participate. Among those likely to attend are Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Assam’s Himanta Biswa Sarma, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and West Bengal’s Suvendu Adhikari.
