Red alert for three districts in Telangana
The Met Office issued a red alert for three Telangana districts, predicting extremely heavy rains for Medak, Sangareddy and Vikarabad. An orange alert is in place for nine districts and a yellow alert for 22 districts in the state for Thursday. The IMD predicted isolated heavy rainfall likely over Telangana until August 20, along with isolated very heavy rainfall on August 15, 16 and 17. Hyderabad is expected to receive heavy rainfall today.
Heavy rain forecast for sub-Himalayan West Bengal till Friday
On Wednesday, the Met Office predicted heavy rains in the sub-Himalayan districts of West Bengal until August 15. Rains lashed several places in north Bengal, including Alipurduar, Cooch Behar, and Jalpaiguri Tuesday morning.
Cloudbursts, flash floods in Himachal
Many bridges were washed away in the Shimla, Lahaul, and Spiti districts, and more than 300 roads, including two national highways, were closed throughout the state as a result of new cloudbursts and
Fresh floods in Ganvi Ravine carried away a police post, while heavy rain destroyed a bus stop and adjacent shops in the Shimla district. Two bridges were washed away, cutting off the Koot and Kyav panchayats in the district, according to officials.
Floods caused by cloudbursts washed down two more bridges in Karpat, Changut, and Udgos Nala, all in the Mayad valley of the tribal Lahaul and Spiti district. On Wednesday evening, cloudbursts were also seen at Shrikhand hill in Nirmand subdivision and Bathadh hill in Tirthan
Another cloudburst hit Nanti in Shimla's Rampur area on Wednesday night. The IMD predicted isolated heavy rainfall over the state until Wednesday.
Orange alert in Uttarakhand
The IMD issued an orange alert for Uttarakhand, predicting heavy rains in the state today. Isolated heavy rainfall is expected until August 20.
