What is the story about?
Widespread pre-monsoon showers lashed Mumbai and its suburbs on Sunday (May 31) morning, bringing relief from the heat and humidity that had gripped the city over the past few days.
Moderate to heavy rainfall was reported across several parts of the city, including the island city, western suburbs and eastern suburbs. Neighbouring Navi Mumbai also witnessed heavy showers.
Areas such as Dadar, Matunga, Khar, Chembur, Mankhurd, Kurla, Santacruz, Vile Parle, Andheri and Versova received significant rainfall within a span of three hours.
According to PTI, rainfall data shared by civic officials showed that the eastern suburbs recorded an average rainfall of 5 mm between 6 am and 9 am, followed by the western suburbs at 2 mm. The island city received 0.61 mm of rainfall during the same period.
