Red Alert in Uttarakhand, Telangana; 43 Missing

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert on Wednesday, August 13, predicting heavy rains in Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand, and Telangana. The Met Office also issued an orange alert for Uttar Pradesh, Bihar,

Sikkim, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and parts of Maharashtra.

In its weather bulletin, IMD predicted heavy rains in several states across the country until August 18.

IMD issues red alert over J&K

The weather agency issued a red alert for Jammu and Kashmir, predicting heavy rains today. It also forecasts heavy rainfall in parts of the state until Friday, along with downpours on Wednesday and Thursday.

Red alert in five districts of Telangana

The IMD has issued a red alert for five districts in

Telangana, an orange alert in nine districts, and a yellow alert in five districts today. Hanumakonda, Jangaon, Mahabubabad, Warangal and Yadadri Bhongir are expected to receive heavy rains today.

Similar warnings are there for Bhadradri Kothagudem, Hyderabad, Medchal Malkajgiri, Rangareddy, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Karimnagar, Mulugu, Peddapalli and Siddipet districts.

Heavy rains are expected for Adilabad, Jagtial, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial and Rajanna Sircilla districts.

The IMD announced on Wednesday that certain places in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Bihar, West Bengal, and Sikkim have a 'low to moderate' flash flood danger, with heavy rainfall forecast today.

43 still missing in Dharali since Aug 5

On Tuesday, authorities continued air operations for the seventh consecutive day to rescue residents trapped in the villages of Dharali and Harsil in Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand, where flash floods struck on August 5, causing massive destruction and loss of life and property.

According to the latest official update, 43 individuals remain missing due to the flash floods.
