PM in Navi Mumbai
The Prime Minister will inaugurate the first phase of Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA), which was constructed at an estimated cost of ₹ 19,650 crores, in line with his goal of making India a major hub for international aviation. This is a massive greenfield project, which was built under a public-private partnership (PPP).
To reduce traffic and bring Mumbai into the league of worldwide multi-airport systems, NMIA, the second international airport serving the Mumbai Metropolitan Area, would work in tandem with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA). With a total size of 1,160 hectares, the airport is intended to be one of the most efficient in the world and eventually handle 3.25 million metric tonnes of cargo and 90 million passengers annually (MPPA).
Phase 2B of the Mumbai Metro Line-3, which will connect Acharya Atre Chowk and Cuffe Parade and was built at an estimated cost of around ₹ 12,200 crore, will also be officially inaugurated by PM Modi. With this, the Prime Minister will dedicate the entireMumbai Metro Line 3 (Aqua Line) to the nation, which has a total cost of approximately ₹ 37,270 crore.
This project is expected to revolutionise commuting across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) by providing millions of residents with a faster, more effective, and modern transit option as Mumbai's first and only entirely underground metro line.
Modi will also launch ‘Mumbai One,’ an integrated common mobility app. The app covers 11 public transport operators, including metro, monorail, suburban railways, and buses.
He will also launch the Short-Term Employability Program (STEP), introducing 2,500 new training batches across the state. This pioneering initiative by the Department of Skill, Employment, Entrepreneurship, and Innovation includes 364 exclusive batches for women and 408 batches in emerging technology like AI, IoT, and electric vehicles.
