What is the story about?
High drama unfolded in the West Bengal Assembly on Thursday, September 4, as Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that the BJP wants to turn the state into its colony.
Speaking in the Assembly, CM Mamata
said, "BJP has dictatorial and colonial mindset, and it wants to turn Bengal into its colony."
She further said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) "sold India's prestige" before foreign powers as the Centre was sometimes seen "begging" before the United States, and sometimes before China, reported news agency PTI.
The Chief Minister's remarks were marred by slogans by the Opposition MLAs.
Following the ruckus, the Bengal BJP chief whip Sankar Ghosh was suspended from the state assembly by Speaker Biman Benerjee
for the rest of the day.
However, he refused to leave the House following the suspension. Ghosh was then marshalled out of the assembly.
