Authorities said the situation is being closely tracked in coordination with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and the respective state governments to ensure preparedness and swift response in vulnerable regions. According to an update issued by the Indian Army at 5:30 am on Sunday (26 October 2025), two active weather systems are currently under observation.
The first system, a depression over the East Central Arabian Sea, is located roughly 700 km west-southwest of Mumbai, 760 km west of Panjim (Goa), 880 km northwest of Lakshadweep, and 960 km west-northeast of Mangaluru. Meteorologists predict that this system will move westwards across the Arabian Sea over the next 24 hours.
The second, a deep depression over the Southeast Bay of Bengal, lies approximately 610 km west of Port Blair, 790 km east-southeast of Chennai, 850 km south-southeast of Visakhapatnam, and 950 km south-southeast of Gopalpur in Odisha. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), this system is likely to evolve into a cyclonic storm within 24 hours and further intensify into a severe cyclonic storm by 28 October, as it tracks northwestwards.
The Army and disaster management authorities remain on standby to provide immediate assistance in case of any emergency arising from the evolving weather situation.
