The second, a deep depression over the Southeast Bay of Bengal, lies approximately 610 km west of Port Blair, 790 km east-southeast of Chennai, 850 km south-southeast of Visakhapatnam, and 950 km south-southeast of Gopalpur in Odisha. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), this system is likely to evolve into a cyclonic storm within 24 hours and further intensify into a severe cyclonic storm by 28 October, as it tracks northwestwards.
The Army and disaster management authorities remain on standby to provide immediate assistance in case of any emergency arising from the evolving weather situation.
