Orange Alert Issued; Mumbai Expects Light Rain

Ganga, Yamuna, and Sharda are flowing above the danger mark in various areas, with some overflowing and causing inundation of nearby villages, farmland, and roadways.

Weather Forecast and Warnings

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted heavy rainfall in several states for the next few days. In its latest weather bulletin issued at 6:18 am on August 7, the Met Office predicted heavy rainfall across southern, central and northeastern regions until August 12.

It also issued an orange alert

for Bihar, Karnataka, Jharkhand, Sikkim, Assam, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya.

Moderate rains expected in Mumbai

Showers persisted overnight and Thursday morning in parts of Mumbai, and the rains may continue in adjoining regions, the IMD said.

Delhi to see more showers

The IMD predicted partly cloudy skies along with the possibility of very light rain or drizzle in Delhi on Thursday. The maximum temperature is likely to be between 34 and 36 degrees Celsius in the national capital, while the minimum is

expected to be between 24 and 26 degrees Celsius.

Isolated heavy rainfall is likely over Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh (August 7-12), Punjab (August 7 and 12), Haryana (August 11 and 12), west Uttar Pradesh (August 8, 11 and 12), and East Uttar Pradesh (August 12).

The IMD has also predicted isolated heavy rainfall over Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Mahe, Karnataka, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Telangana, and Rayalaseema between August 7 and 9, as well as parts of Karnataka on Thursday.

to continue in Himachal Pradesh

The IMD has issued a fresh alert, saying rains are predicted to continue until August 12 in the state, with several districts expecting heavy rains. This weather condition is due to the combined impact of the active southwest monsoon and a western disturbance.

"The intensity of rain over Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhandin the past 24 hours was due to the convergence of an active monsoon system and a western disturbance. This combination led to strong winds and localised cloud formation, which

resulted in heavy to hefty rainfall in the hilly regions," Sandeep Kumar Sharma, Senior Scientist at the IMD Centre in Shimla, told ANI.

Massive rescue ops continue in Uttarkashi.

On Thursday, Indian security and disaster management forces continued the rescue effort in Uttarakhand's Uttarkashi following the cloudburst and mudslide tragedy. The Indian Army, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Uttarakhand Police, and local administration are

all involved in a rescue operation in Dharali. Garhwal Division Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey said that helicopter sorties have begun from Harsil, with numerous evacuees flown from the afflicted region.

190 people rescued from Dharali

Around 190 people were rescued from Dharali on Wednesday after a devastating cloudburst caused massive flash floods and landslides, with the Indian Army, Indian Air Force (IAF), along with ITBP, NDRF, SDRF, BRO, and local volunteers conducting a joint rescue and relief operation.

199 deaths reported due to monsoon fury in Himachal

According to a report by the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA), the state recorded a total of 199 deaths and a cumulative loss of over Rs 1905.5 crore during the monsoon season between June 20 and August 6 this year.
