The Revival of RWI
Restaurant Week India (RWI), a pioneering culinary event that once set the standard for experiential dining in the country, is making a significant return
after ten years. Initially conceived to encourage diners to explore restaurants they might have otherwise overlooked, RWI was built for a different era when India's dining scene was just beginning to blossom into an experience. The focus back then was heavily on accessibility and pricing, acting as a gateway for people to step out and try new establishments. The inaugural versions of RWI spanned multiple cities, offering accessible three-course prix-fixe menus. Now, RWI is back with a revitalized approach, emphasizing a more curated and experience-driven phenomenon that caters to today's more informed and adventurous diners.
A Sharper, Curated Focus
The current iteration of Restaurant Week India marks a deliberate reset, shifting the emphasis from broad accessibility to deep curation. This new format prioritizes quality over quantity, featuring a more tightly selected line-up of restaurants. The goal is to showcase menus that genuinely reflect each establishment's unique identity, culinary craft, and storytelling. This approach acknowledges the evolution of both diners and restaurants; diners are now more knowledgeable, actively seeking unique experiences and following chefs, while restaurants have developed stronger identities and improved their craft. RWI's comeback is driven by the belief that the Indian culinary ecosystem is now mature enough to support an event that offers meaningful engagement rather than just a transactional dining discount, building confidence and structure in the discovery process.
Taste Your City Differently
Scheduled to run from April 24 to May 3, 2026, this year's Restaurant Week India will feature over 55 leading restaurants across Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, and Bengaluru. The festival is designed not to make dining cheaper, but to make it more structured, discoverable, and engaging. Participating restaurants have crafted special three-course prix-fixe menus, offering diners a unique opportunity to explore and rediscover their cities through a series of thoughtfully composed meals. This curated offering aims to provide a defined experience, giving diners a clear entry point into establishments they might have been considering. The prepaid, time-bound format aims to simplify the process, remove friction, and encourage a more confident approach to culinary exploration. The RWI team is also looking ahead, with plans to expand thoughtfully to cities like Hyderabad and Jaipur in future editions.
