The ongoing conflict in West Asia is significantly influencing how Indian travellers are approaching their Summer 2026 holiday bookings. This global unease
has prompted a noticeable pivot in travel preferences, moving away from far-flung destinations and routes that might experience disruptions. Instead, there's a pronounced trend towards exploring options that offer greater predictability and ease of access. Flight cancellations and airspace restrictions in affected regions are forcing travel agencies and vacationers alike to re-evaluate existing itineraries and craft new plans. The emphasis is now on journeys that are shorter, smoother, and more readily accessible, minimizing the risk of last-minute complications. This strategic adjustment ensures a more seamless travel experience, prioritizing peace of mind over distant adventures.
Asia's Travel Boom
In response to the evolving travel landscape, Asian destinations are experiencing a remarkable surge in popularity among Indian travellers. Vietnam, in particular, is leading this trend with an impressive 130 per cent increase in bookings when compared to the previous year, highlighting its growing appeal. Neighbouring countries are also witnessing substantial growth; Nepal's bookings have climbed by 88 per cent, and Sri Lanka has seen a 68 per cent rise. Established favourites in Southeast Asia, such as Indonesia, Singapore, and Thailand, continue to attract consistent visitor numbers, reinforcing their status as reliable holiday spots. This collective upturn underscores a clear preference for short-haul international trips, which offer the advantage of reduced travel times and manageable, less complex holiday arrangements.
Domestic Escapes Shine
The allure of domestic travel is also growing stronger, with a significant number of Indian travellers choosing to explore the diverse landscapes within their own country. Cities like Udaipur are at the forefront, reporting a substantial 69 per cent increase in bookings, indicating a renewed interest in its heritage and charm. Other Indian cities are also showing robust growth, with Jodhpur experiencing a 47 per cent rise, Bagdogra seeing a 44 per cent increase, Srinagar with a 41 per cent uptick, and Agartala registering a 38 per cent growth in bookings. While these emerging destinations capture attention, perennial favourites like Goa and Dehradun continue to maintain their strong appeal, demonstrating that travellers are equally keen on rediscovering cherished vacation spots as they are on venturing to new horizons.
