Even before the peak of summer, India is experiencing an intense heatwave, placing it at the forefront of global temperature rankings. Data reveals that
an astonishing 96 out of the top 100 hottest cities worldwide are located within India. This widespread and severe heat is not a localized phenomenon but a country-wide crisis, impacting numerous regions before the traditional summer months even begin. The sheer volume of Indian cities on this list underscores the alarming intensity of the current heat conditions across the nation, signaling a challenging period ahead for millions.
Extreme Temperature Hotspots
Leading this concerning global list are three Indian cities that have recorded exceptionally high temperatures. Orchha in Madhya Pradesh stands out, having registered a staggering 41°C. Following closely are Jhansi in Uttar Pradesh and Balangir in Odisha, both reporting similarly extreme heat, securing the second and third positions respectively. These top three locations are indicative of the widespread heatwave affecting the country, with numerous other cities consistently recording temperatures between 38°C and 40°C. This sustained high heat suggests a pervasive and persistent pattern of extreme weather events impacting daily life and health across these populated areas.
