SOMA — Southern fine dining restaurant Prelude served its last boneless chicken wings and grits on Saturday, September 19. Nestled in a ground-floor space at the Jay, Autograph Collection, chef Celtin Hendrickson-Jones brought his approach to Southern grandma fare to the restaurant, adding touches from his time working at Niku Steakhouse and two-Michelin-starred Commis. SOMA — Yank Sing has closed its 101 Spear Street location after 27 years inside the Rincon Center as of Sunday, September 20, the San Francisco Standard reports. Almost in the same breath, it must be mentioned that Yank Sing’s other location at 49 Stevenson Street remains open, lest you get the wrong idea. It seems the beloved dim sum spot’s lease at the business center has “run its course,” per the Standard, but otherwise there are still siu mai, pork buns, honey walnut prawns, and more, just five blocks away. 101 Spear Street, San Francisco
BERKELEY — The owners behind long-running Berkeley landmark Triple Rock Brewery and Alehouse announced they are shutting down the storied bar in December 2026, SFGATE reports. The property, owned by brothers John and Reid Martin, will then be put up for sale or lease, they say. The bar first opened by the Martins in 1986, and they are now “considered founding fathers of America’s brewpub movement,” per the news outlet. 1920 Shattuck Avenue, Berkeley
PINOLE — Longtime East Bay folks like me may be saddened to learn that Ristorante Due Rose is closing in late October, East Bay Nosh reports. The restaurant held down that corner of the strip mall for 24 years of pasta, pizza, and red wine. (Some may remember the location as a Round Table Pizza before that.) 1596 Fitzgerald Drive, Pinole
