Summer is prime time to enjoy a barbecue feast, and luckily, the nation’s capital has no shortage of options. Many popular places in our transient city serve all sorts of regional favorites. That includes brisket, the king of Texas meats, alongside pulled
pork and ribs, which are more popular throughout the Southeast. Inside the District, Federalist Pig and DCity Smokehouse have attracted some of the most fervent followings. Texas Jack’s has risen to prominence in Northern Virginia. Impressive options out of Maryland include 2Fifty Texas (which expanded to D.C.) and Money Muscle BBQ, which doubled down in Silver Spring with a roadside stand.
Down to drive outside of the DMV for destination barbecue? Follow your nose to Monk’s BBQ in Purcellville, Virginia; Bark Barbecue Co. in Stevensville, Maryland; and Andy Nelson’s in Cockeysville, Maryland are three must-try options.
