Summer is in full swing, and although Portlanders are out and about enjoying the lengthy days, a pall hangs over the food industry. Tough economic times are hitting local spots hard, with a number of restaurants and bars closing up over the past few months.
But it’s onwards and upwards, as they say; new spots continue sprouting up and some established ones are trying out fresh concepts, keeping the dining scene constantly evolving.
This Heatmap, which is updated every two months, is a running list of excitement-worthy Portland restaurants that have opened in the last six months or so. As restaurants “age out” of the Heatmap, they may appear on other maps or even the Eater 38. But we’re confident that new ones will rise up to take their place.
New to the map this month: Maddoggs, Hua Hin, and Alma.
