Though City of West Hollywood remains known for its glamorous celebrity hot spots, far more lies beneath the surface. This is one of Southern California’s best neighborhoods to find an impressive range of restaurants at many price points, including one of the hottest (and most expensive) tasting menus in town, casual and refined seafood destinations, classic red-sauce joints, and cannabis consumption lounges. Below are West Hollywood’s best restaurants right now.
New this update: Sushi Samba, Darling, Marvito, Sushi Nakazawa, and Tower Bar join the list, while Daughter’s Deli (which is currently relocating), Pleasure Med, and DiDi leave.
Mona Holmes recalls the West Hollywood of the 1990s, which was famously known for being one of the country’s
most queer-friendly spaces. She prefers the old-school spots like Jones Hollywood over the glitzier recent additions, and still laments the loss of one of her favorite former WeHo haunts: Lola’s on Fairfax.
Matthew Kang is a lifelong Angeleno who sees West Hollywood as at least the second most glamorous place to get dinner in Los Angeles (the first being its ritzy neighbor, Beverly Hills). Still, the vibe tends to be more stylish along West Hollywood streets like Robertson, Melrose, Santa Monica, and Sunset. His favorite view is at Merois at the Pendry, and he still considers the chicken parmesan at Dan Tana’s to be one of LA’s most iconic dishes.
