Nan Yimcharoen, the chef behind Thai Japanese tasting menu restaurant Kinkan will head to the South Bay next with a market in Hermosa Beach this summer. Kinkan — best known for its inventive dishes like Panang Bolognese, legendary crab nights, and lunch chirashi — ended its five-year run in Virgil Village in March 2026 in preparation for a move to West Los Angeles development, West Edge. The market is currently slated to open in July at 1200 Pacific Coast Highway.
At Kinkan Market, Yimcharoen will return to her roots with bento boxes and chirashi, which she used to serve when the restaurant was still an underground pop-up. Alongside the prepared foods, the market will sell specialty ingredients, sake, beer, and tea, as well as pottery and home
goods.
Currently, Yimcharoen is hosting Kinkan pop-ups in Kyoto while readying to open the market. Kinkan’s West Edge location, which will offer a kaiseki-style menu at its 15-person counter, is set to open in 2027.
