A fire broke out this morning at swanky British import Ambassadors Clubhouse, the impossible-to-get-into Indian restaurant at 1245 Broadway, at West 31st Street, as posted on Reddit.
According to NYC Fire Wire, it wasan “all-hands” fire, which is serious
enough that at least four engine companies are called in to put out the fire. Eater has reached out to Ambassadors Clubhouse for more information.
Videos showing smoke billowing out of the building and fire framing the entrance have posted across Instagram. A commenter on Reddit noted that their Friday reservation has been cancelled.
The restaurant from JKS, behind hits like London’s chef-driven Bibi and contemporary Mayfair Indian Gymkhana, opened in January in the same building that houses A24’s New York headquarters — behind indie flicks like Marty Supreme and Moonlight.
The restaurant fire is at least the second high-profile fire this year, with Gabriel Kreuther’s Saverne closing less than two weeks after openingdue to a fire shortly after its Hudson Yards debut; it reopened July 27, according to a spokesperson, though it was framed as having closed due to “mechanical difficulties.” Last year, in October 2025, Monterey steakhouse run by chef James Traceytemporarily shuttered due to a two-alarm fire, requiring over 100 firefighters to put out the blaze. It opened about a month later.
