Prolific chef and restaurateur Jean-Georges Vongerichten is bringing two restaurants, along with catering and an events space, to 70 Hudson Yards, the 50-plus-story office tower under construction at Hudson Boulevard East and West 35th Street, the New
York Post first reported. The centerpiece is a 50-seat, 2,000-square-foot restaurant in the lobby. Vongerichten tells Eater it will feel like the polished power-dining restaurant Four Twenty Five or iconic French-leaning Nougatine; he didn’t come forth with a name yet.
The larger of the two will be the 3,000-square-foot ABC to Go, a grab-and-go take on Vongerichten’s ABC restaurants, which include a farm-to-table sustainable kitchen, a Mexican-inspired restaurant, and a vegetarian staple with locations in Manhattan and Dumbo.
Jean-Georges Management will also oversee more than 5,000 square feet of event space on an upper floor and will provide catering for office tenants. The three projects cover roughly 10,000 square feet.
Related Companies and Oxford Properties Group are developing the tower, with a 2028 opening in sight, the Post reports.
Vongerichten’s company runs more than 60 restaurants in 14 locations worldwide. In New York, that includes the flagship Jean-Georges and Nougatine, Four Twenty Five, as well as the ABC spots. The hugely ambitious and short-lived Tin Building closed after three years.
Hudson Yards and its surrounding blocks have steadily added restaurants. Mercado Little Spain from José Andrés, Gabriel Kreuther’sSaverne, and Dan Kluger’s Greywindare all nearby, and Tao Group’s Peak sits on the 101st floor of 30 Hudson Yards. There’s neighborhood favorite Danny Meyer’s Ci Siamo, along with the newest location ofLocanda Verde. Peruvian restaurant Papa San and British import Queensyard round out the dining options.
