Shah Rukh Khan at 60: Health Secrets Behind the Superstar’s Fitness, Energy, and Agelessness
Times Now
Mega star Shah Rukh Khan has turned 60, and fans from across the world are celebrating his birthday like no other. The movie star, known for his powerful performances that showed the many shades of love
through films, is also known to have been fit and energetic throughout his life. Recently, during a fan interaction on social media site X (formerly Twitter), when a fan asked him how he managed to look younger every year, in his trademark witty style, the superstar replied, “Actually, truth...Dil toh bachcha hai ji (the heart is young), that's why. And a lot of it is....in the eye of the beholder thing.” The actor, fondly known as SRK or King Khan, is often hailed as one of the last true superstars of Hindi cinema and enjoys a global fan following. However, he did have many health scares along his journey – from a series of on-set injuries like a fractured rib, broken toe, and shoulder injuries, as well as a heatstroke that led to hospitalization last year. SRK also recently revealed he has quit smoking and is dealing with breathlessness as his body adjusts. Recently, Khan underwent major shoulder surgery after an injury during the shooting for his upcoming film King. However, SRK does keep a fit and agile body, even at 60. Here’s how he does it.
Two meals a day, and no snacking
According to news reports, Shah Rukh maintains his fitness and energy levels through a simple, disciplined diet that is built around home-cooked food and portion control. He eats twice a day – with a mix of healthy and nutritious meals that include sprouts, grilled chicken, broccoli, and dal. He completely avoids white rice, sugar, bread, and alcohol whenever he is shooting or preparing for roles. According to experts, all of these foods help support gut health, muscle strength, and slow down ageing. Also, despite being a super busy actor, Shah Rukh Khan always prefers to eat homemade food. During shoot days, he prefers more protein for energy, like grilled fish or tandoori chicken, accompanied by sauteed vegetables and sprouts – all of which are easy to digest and loaded with nutrients. His dinners are also simple, and usually include tandoori chicken with roti, occasionally replaced by mutton. However, the actor does not restrict himself all the time. Shah Rukh also indulges occasionally in biryani, parathas, food cooked with ghee, or even a glass of sweet lassi.
Consistency in diet is the key to good health
Shah Rukh is known to be extremely consistent when it comes to his meal choices, as he does not indulge in processed foods at all. Experts say it helps improve gut function and keeps the body’s systems in harmony. Khan is known for his longstanding love for tandoori chicken — which he once called his “addiction” — reflects his practical food philosophy: enjoy what you love, but stay disciplined.
SRK’s fitness formula
Shah Rukh follows a disciplined and consistent fitness routine – one that he follows even if it is late at night. In various previous interviews, SRK has said he works out late at night, often after long shoot days, to fit it into his schedule. According to his trainers, SRK’s fitness routine is defined by strict discipline and consistency, not fad diets.
