NEET aspirant Shrishti Dubey was in a road accident on June 14, a mere week away from the rescheduled date for the national eligibility entrance test. As per an IANS Live report, she was eventually extubated and had commenced her recovery. Still, the likelihood of her being able to appear for the NEET re-examination seemed next to nil.Her father, Shreeram Shiwji Dubey, a primary school teacher, reached out the Union Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan. Sharing her roll number and centre code - that of Binodini Girls High School in Dhakuria, Kolkata - Dubey explained his daughter's
predicament and highlighted her resolve to still want to appear for the re-examination. Dubey's request also put it across that ILS Hospital was already on board to provide the necessary medical support needed, including a doctor, paramedics and other arrangements. The request for the NEET aspirant was basic, given her condition - that she be allowed a seating space on the ground floor with a chair and table, along with allowing her to carry necessary medical attachments such as her chest drain. To the parents' relief, the Union Minister came through on their request. Also Read: Ahead of NEET Re-Exam, Timesnow.in Raises Voices of Sanity in Solidarity With StudentsPradhan's intervention allowed Shrishti to appear for the re-examination at Binodini Girls High School, as scheduled, in a separate room, complete with medical support and a standby ambulance.
