Dipika Kakkar spoke about the anxiety and emotional turmoil she has been facing amid her ongoing liver cancer diagnosis in her latest Vlog. Even though her medical reports are normal, the 39-year-old actor admitted she often struggles to stay strong, saying her “heart simply can’t hold it all." In the video, Dipika explained how her emotions have been fluctuating. “It’s not that I feel overwhelmed all the time; there are days I feel genuinely happy and hopeful. There are days I believe everything is absolutely fine, and that despite such a major issue, things are still okay. Every day brings something different, and the only way forward is to keep going. And that’s exactly what we’re trying to do. I’m going through an emotional breakdown right
now,” she said. Dipika mentioned that she discussed her anxiety issues with the doctor, who spoke at length, trying to understand her state of mind. Dipika has been open about her cancer diagnosis, but also her treatment journey, since she got the news earlier this year. She went on to share the physical challenges she faces daily, from thyroid fluctuations to hormonal imbalances that impact her skin and overall well-being.
Cancer patients battle anxiety issues
According to doctors, more than 10 per cent of patients who have cancer are prone to depression and other mental health issues. Doctors say the disease is a highly stressful time for cancer patients as they undergo a lot of mood swings, anxiety, and depression. While many deal with pain during their chemotherapy treatment, a lot of them also try to battle cancer bravely. If interacting with people or taking part in social activities is not giving you any joy, then it could be due to stress or anxiety issues from cancer. You can get help from professionals who guide you in leading a happy and emotionally balanced life.
Coping tips for cancer patients
Meditation
According to doctors, the best approach to battling cancer and dealing with anxiety and other emotional disorders is through regular meditation. It can be easily done at home at any time of the day when you feel emotionally imbalanced.
Support from counsellors
Doctors say whenever you feel low, rather than taking a step back, it is better to talk it out – either with your loved ones or professional counsellors. Express what you are going through with them openly to reduce the burden in your mind and heart.
Exercise
Sitting idle only increases negative feelings. It would be helpful to keep yourself busy by getting involved in household tasks or engaging in fun activities. You can also do physical exercises to release endorphins naturally. These allow you to reduce stress and boost your quality of life.
Healthy lifestyle
A good, balanced, and nutritious diet is among the best ways to feel better both physically and mentally. Doctors suggest eating foods that are loaded with proteins and nutrients that will keep you active and energetic all day. It also improves brain functioning and gives you enough sleep.
