Kelly Osbourne has opened up on her weight loss journey, hitting out at those making comments about her body. The 41-year-old former television presenter said she struggled with her body and weight since rising to fame as a teenager on her family's reality show, The Osbournes, almost two decades ago. “To the people who keep thinking they're being funny and mean by writing comments like ‘Are you ill,’ or ‘Get off Ozempic, you don't look right,’ my dad just died, and I’m doing the best that I can, and the only thing I have to live for right now is my family,” she said in a now deleted Instagram video. Kelly’s father, metal music legend Ozzy Osbourne, died earlier this year, aged 76, just weeks after performing a mammoth farewell show with Black
Sabbath.
How did Kelly earlier lose weight?
As an adult, Osbourne lost 85 lbs (nearly 40 kilograms) through gastric sleeve surgery, even though she had issues again with her appearance while pregnant with her first child in 2022. In her pregnancy, Kelly suffered gestational diabetes - a type of diabetes caused by hormonal changes and the body’s need to produce more sugar to meet the increased need for insulin while carrying the baby. Apart from the surgery, Kelly also worked out and started to eat more nutritiously. “If you don’t work out and you don’t eat right, you gain weight,” she shared. "All [the surgery] does is move you in the right direction.” Kelly said working out had also helped with her drug and alcohol addiction issues, as it made cravings less. Last year, she revealed in an interview her decision to take the weight loss drug Ozempic, saying, “I think it’s amazing. There are a million ways to lose weight, why not do it through something that isn't as boring as working out?” Addressing the critics, she said, “People hate on it because they want to do it. And the people who hate on it the most are the people who are secretly doing it or pissed off that they can't afford it.”
Kelly has undergone body sculpting
Kelly has also admitted to getting body sculpting surgeries done after her pregnancy to get rid of the stretch marks. The Extra reported Kelly underwent skin-tightening treatments, EMFACE and EMSCULPT, which tone and tighten muscles in the face and body while reducing fat.
