59, Salman Khan broke the internet flaunting his killer abs. Hinting that he did not go on extreme diets or workout routines to achieve the physique, his pictures were captioned, “To achieve something one needs to let go of some things… this is without letting go.”
What is the secret of Salman’s fitness?
Salman has always had a body that can make you jealous. And according to his fitness trainer Rakkesh R Uddiyar, who has been working with him for the last two decades, the actor does not take shortcuts. Rakesh says the superstar stays away from fancy routines but is totally old school when it comes to bodybuilding. “Salman is totally into HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) with no rest, and he does it with the AC always turned off,” Uddiyar told Hindustan Times. According to Uddiyar, Salman performs around ten different variations of chest exercises like inclines, push-ups, and flys, and does not take unnecessary breaks between workouts. "The only rest he takes is when walking from one exercise to another. He doesn't do heavy weightlifting but focuses on volume training. He will drink water in between,” the fitness coach revealed. Uddiyar also said Salman does not spend too much time in the gym and only concentrates on the workouts. “He takes about 30 seconds of a break between each exercise, which is the time needed to walk from one exercise to the next, and wraps up his HIIT routine within 45 minutes to 1 hour,” he said. How beneficial is a HIIT routine?
HIIT offers the same health benefits as regular exercise in less time and helps reduce body fat, heart rate, and blood pressure. It even helps improve blood sugar levels and insulin sensitivity. A few benefits include:Helps in weight loss
According to studies, HIIT helps you lose fat along with waist circumference. However, like other forms of exercise, HIIT may be most effective for fat loss in those who are overweight or have obesity.Helps gaining muscle
In addition to helping with fat loss, HIIT also helps increase muscle mass, especially in those who are not very active. However, weight training continues to be the gold standard to increase muscle mass in active people.Improves oxygen consumption
HIIT is also helpful in improving oxygen consumption as much as traditional endurance training. Endurance training typically improves your oxygen consumption.Reduces blood sugar
HIIT programs help reduce blood sugar levels. Experts believe high-intensity interval training is especially beneficial for those needing to reduce blood sugar and insulin resistance. Studies say regular HIIT reduces blood sugar and improves lipid metabolism in those with type 2 diabetes.Do you find this article useful?
