Although digital devices alone do not cause myopia, prolonged near work can contribute to eye fatigue and may influence myopia progression. Eye specialists recommend the 20-20-20 rule - every 20 minutes, children should look at an object about 20 feet away for at least 20 seconds. Maintaining proper reading distance and taking regular breaks during study sessions can also help reduce eye strain. “Children should take regular breaks during prolonged near work, maintain an appropriate working distance, and avoid spending long uninterrupted periods focusing on close-up tasks,” she added.What is myopia?
