Fresh speculation surrounding the health of US President Donald Trump has intensified after a medical professor publicly suggested that the 79-year-old may have experienced a stroke during his second term. The comments were made by Dr. Bruce Davidson, a professor at Washington State University’s Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine, during an appearance on The Daily Beast podcast. Dr. Davidson said his observations were based on Trump’s public appearances, movement patterns, and speech over time. “Earlier in the year, there was a video of him shuffling, and I thought that was weird,” Davidson reportedly said during the discussion, suggesting that certain walking patterns can sometimes be seen in people recovering from neurological events such
as strokes. Also read: Donald Trump Declares Himself In ‘Perfect’ Health Ahead Of 80th Birthday, Medical Report Awaited
Why did Trump’s movement videos spark debate?
Online discussions about Trump’s health grew after several videos showed him appearing to walk slowly or shuffle during public appearances. Dr. Davidson has also pointed to moments where Trump appeared to cradle his right hand with his left, which he described as a possible indicator of weakness on one side of the body. According to neurologists, weakness or reduced coordination affecting one side of the body can sometimes occur after a stroke because brain damage may affect motor control. Dr. Davidson further claimed Trump appeared to “garble” words more noticeably in earlier appearances this year, though he acknowledged this seemed less obvious in recent speeches. However, experts caution that publicly analysing someone’s health through video footage alone cannot confirm a medical diagnosis. What is a stroke?
A stroke occurs when blood flow to part of the brain is interrupted, depriving brain cells of oxygen. Without rapid treatment, brain tissue can become permanently damaged within minutes. There are two major types of stroke:- Ischemic stroke: Caused by blocked blood vessels
