Samosa with green chutney is an integral part of family gatherings in every Indian household.
Green chutneys are favorable preparations made by blending
some of the usual green ingredients from the kitchen- green chilies, mint leaves, coriander leaves, and others. It gets served with evening snack items, such as pakoras, chaats, dhokla, sandwiches, etc., hence elevating their taste. Moreover, green chutney is prepared with fresh and non-calorie ingredients, with no added refined sugar. As a result, they are rich in anti-oxidant properties, which reduce body inflammation and remove unwanted radicals. Similarly, the green substances in the preparation are beneficial for food digestion and other stomach issues.
Every kitchen star and chefs have a unique style to prepare this chutney. Here, we have listed a few recipes for you to try.
Type I: The Basic Green Chutney
Ingredients: Chopped mint leaves (2 cups), chopped coriander leaves (1 cup), chopped green chilies (as desired), lime juice (1 tablespoon lime juice), ginger (1 tablespoon), and salt (to taste).
Procedure- Put the ingredients into the mixing jar and add 1/4th cup of water to it. Blend it until a smooth paste is formed, and then serve it with your favorite snack.
Type II: The Mumbai Style Green Chutney
Ingredients- Roughly chopped coriander leaves (1 cup), chopped spinach (1/4th cup), green chilies (as required), lemon juice (1 teaspoon), salt, and bread slices (1/2 pieces).
Procedure- Blend all the ingredients into a smooth puree using 5 tablespoons of water. Refrigerate the chutney to enhance the taste and serve it as desired.
Type III: The Low-calorie Green Chutney
Ingredients- Coriander leaves (1 cup), roasted chana dal (2 tablespoons), cumin seeds (1 teaspoon), green chilies, low-fat curd (1 tablespoon), lemon juice (1/2 tablespoon), and salt.
Procedure- First, blend cumin seeds, roasted chana dal, chilies, and 1 tablespoon of water. Later, add the rest ingredients and blend them until a fine paste. Then use it as required.
Type IV: The Faral Green Chutney
Ingredients- Roughly chopped coriander leaves (1 cup), Grated coconut (4 tablespoons), Chopped green chilies (according to required spice level), lemon juice (1 tablespoon), sugar (2 tablespoons), and rock salt as needed.
Procedure- Combine all the ingredients into the mixing jar and add 1 cup of water. Then blend the ingredients to receive a lump-free paste. Store it in an air-tight container and serve as desired.
Type V: The Chaat Style Green Chutney
Ingredients- Chopped mint leaves (2 Cups), chopped coriander leaves (1 cup), sliced onions (1 large), green chilies, lemon juice (1 tablespoon), sugar (1 tablespoon), and salt to taste.
Procedure- Blend all the ingredients into a smooth paste using 2 tablespoons of water, and serve it as required.
