The Virginia Association of REALTORS® has reported a significant increase in home sales and prices for April 2026. According to the report, closed sales, pending sales, and new listings have surpassed last year's figures, indicating a robust housing market
in Virginia. The statewide median sales price reached $439,945, marking a 3.5% increase from the previous year. This rise in home prices is seen across more than half of Virginia's local markets. Despite higher mortgage rates since February, the demand for homes remains strong, with properties continuing to sell quickly. However, this upward trend in prices poses challenges for those on the lower economic rungs, as the median household income in Virginia is insufficient to afford the median home price.
