What's Happening?
The Pittsburgh Steelers have reached an agreement with former Chicago Bears safety Jaquan Brisker on a one-year contract worth $5.5 million. Brisker, who was a second-round draft pick in 2022, played all 17 games in the 2025 season and participated in both
playoff games. His performance was notable despite injuries limiting his play to five games in 2024. The Bears have also seen the departure of their other starting safety, Kevin Byard, who signed with the New England Patriots. In response, the Bears have signed Coby Bryant from the Seattle Seahawks to a three-year, $40 million deal.
Why It's Important?
This move is significant for the Steelers as they bolster their defensive lineup with an experienced player like Brisker. The addition of Brisker could enhance the Steelers' defensive strategies, given his track record and experience in the league. For the Bears, the loss of both starting safeties from the previous season marks a significant shift in their defensive roster, necessitating strategic adjustments. The signing of Coby Bryant indicates the Bears' commitment to maintaining a strong defense despite these changes.
