What's Happening?
Arintra, an artificial intelligence-driven medical coding platform, has introduced new documentation improvement capabilities designed to help healthcare organizations identify gaps affecting compensation
and denials. The platform, which launched in 2020, enables healthcare providers to analyze documentation and coding outcomes, work relative value units (wRVUs), and denials at scale. According to Arintra, health systems using the platform have reported a revenue uplift of over 5%, a reduction in pre-accounts receivable days by more than 64%, and a decrease in denials by over 43%. The new capabilities aim to provide healthcare providers with insights into how specific documentation decisions impact coding, thereby facilitating provider education. Arintra's CEO, Nitesh Shroff, emphasized the importance of showing physicians how documentation gaps affect their compensation, as many are paid based on wRVUs.
Why It's Important?
The introduction of Arintra's new capabilities is significant for the healthcare industry as it addresses the critical issue of documentation gaps that can lead to financial losses for healthcare providers. By improving documentation accuracy, healthcare organizations can enhance their revenue cycle management, reduce denials, and ultimately improve financial performance. This development is particularly important as approximately 70% of physicians are compensated based on wRVUs, making accurate documentation crucial for fair compensation. The platform's ability to provide actionable insights and education to healthcare providers can lead to more efficient operations and better financial outcomes, benefiting both providers and patients.
