What's Happening?
Centenario Gold Corp has commenced the first phase of exploration at the Los Reyes Copper Gold Project near Chihuahua, Mexico. The initial work involves detailed mapping and sampling of old underground
mine workings along a 1 km contact zone. The Los Reyes site, historically mined since the early 1700s, has never been systematically sampled. Following this phase, Centenario plans a 1500-meter diamond drilling program to test depth extensions of the high-grade Cu-Zn-Ag skarn zone previously mined by ASARCO. The company has submitted an environmental study report and expects permits by late April 2026, with drilling to begin shortly after.
Why It's Important?
The Los Reyes Project represents a significant opportunity for Centenario Gold Corp to expand its portfolio and increase its resource base. The exploration could lead to the discovery of substantial copper and gold deposits, enhancing the company's market position and financial prospects. Successful exploration and development at Los Reyes could attract further investment and partnerships, boosting the local economy and creating jobs. The project also underscores the importance of responsible mining practices, as Centenario is committed to working closely with local communities and stakeholders.
What's Next?
Centenario Gold Corp will proceed with the diamond drilling program once permits are received, aiming to confirm the presence of high-grade mineralization. The company will continue to evaluate the project's potential and may expand exploration efforts based on initial results. Centenario's management will focus on maintaining transparency and environmental responsibility throughout the project. The company may also explore additional opportunities in Mexico and Canada to further diversify its mineral assets.
