Vaeridion, a German developer of battery-electric aircraft, has showcased a mock-up of the twin-motor powertrain for its future Microliner aircraft at Aero Friedrichshafen. The powertrain features two 500kW motors on a single shaft, designed to eliminate
the need for a reduction gearbox and provide redundancy in case of engine failure. Vaeridion plans to conduct ground tests of a single motor this summer, with full system testing anticipated in 2027. The Microliner, a nine-seater aircraft intended for regional missions, is expected to enter commercial service by 2030.
