Nissan is advancing the circular economy for its electric vehicle batteries by launching an ultra-fast EV charging solution at the Port of Vigo in Spain. This initiative, developed in collaboration with Little Electric Energy, involves repurposing 12
Nissan LEAF 30kWh battery packs into a 300kWh Energy Storage System (ESS). The system will support four chargers capable of delivering up to 240kW ultra-fast DC charging and 22kW AC charging, thereby enhancing grid capacity. This project is co-funded by the European Union and Spain's national energy agency, IDAE, and will operate for at least one year in partnership with a Charging Point Operator and the Port of Vigo authorities.
