What's Happening?
Royalton Hotels & Resorts has announced the launch of the Royalton Sustainability Standards, a comprehensive initiative aimed at implementing long-term environmental and social responsibility strategies
across its portfolio of over 24 all-inclusive resorts in seven countries. The initiative, announced in recognition of Earth Day, focuses on energy efficiency, waste reduction, water conservation, biodiversity protection, and community engagement. The company plans to fully implement these standards by 2030, integrating new technologies and artificial intelligence to optimize operations and resource use. The initiative includes the expansion of the Vero Water program, replacing single-use plastic bottles with refillable glass alternatives, and the installation of solar panel systems generating significant energy annually. The company has already eliminated 10 million plastic bottles and avoided 13,642 tons of CO2 emissions.
Why It's Important?
The commitment by Royalton Hotels & Resorts to sustainability standards is significant for the hospitality industry, particularly in the all-inclusive segment. By prioritizing environmental and social responsibility, the company sets a precedent for other hotel groups to follow, potentially leading to widespread adoption of sustainable practices. This initiative not only reduces the environmental impact of tourism but also enhances community engagement and supports local economies. The focus on renewable energy and waste management aligns with global efforts to combat climate change, making Royalton a leader in sustainable hospitality. The initiative also offers guests the opportunity to participate in responsible travel, potentially influencing consumer behavior towards more eco-conscious choices.
What's Next?
Royalton Hotels & Resorts will continue investing in renewable energy, advanced waste management technology, and staff training. The company plans to explore new partnerships and innovations to accelerate progress towards a low-impact, circular operation model. As the brand grows, every new opening will adhere to the same sustainability framework, ensuring environmental and community responsibility remain central to its evolution and guest experience.
