ABS and HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering (HD KSOE) have signed a memorandum of understanding to collaborate on digital technologies aimed at enhancing safety and performance in shipbuilding. The agreement focuses on developing Digital Threads,
which are secure and integrated data flows across the entire vessel value chain. Key areas of collaboration include digital engineering, autonomous vessel systems, and integrated cybersecurity tools. The partnership will also explore the establishment of a 3D model-based approval and trusted data exchange between the shipyard and classification society. Additionally, the integration of HD KSOE’s Software Defined Vessel architecture with ABS Wavesight, a digital platform for fleet performance and compliance monitoring, will be examined. The collaboration aims to develop integrated cybersecurity and data safety guidelines for autonomous vessel environments, addressing the evolving threat landscape for next-generation fleets.
