What's Happening?
CoreMarine and Jumbo Offshore have been awarded a contract to transport and install soft-yoke mooring systems and hook-up FLNG vessels in Argentina's Golfo San Matías. The project, commissioned by Southern Energy S.A., involves a consortium including
Pan American Energy, YPF, and others. CoreMarine will lead the project, contracting Jumbo Offshore for the installation of the mooring system, which includes heavy lifting and piling activities. The project will involve complex operations such as heavy lifting, riser installation, and saturation diving, requiring multiple assets like DSVs and support vessels. The SSY systems will allow the FLNG units to align with environmental forces, providing a cost-efficient solution without fixed infrastructure.
Why It's Important?
This project marks a significant milestone for Argentina's gas sector, enhancing its export capabilities. The use of SSY technology represents a breakthrough in floating energy infrastructure, potentially setting a precedent for future developments in the region. For CoreMarine and Jumbo Offshore, this project strengthens their positions in the Latin American market and showcases their expertise in complex offshore installations. The successful execution of this project could lead to increased investment in Argentina's energy sector, boosting economic growth and energy independence.
