What's Happening?
Former Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Tom Coughlin emerged victorious in a charity shootout at the Pajcic & Pajcic golf event, which raises funds for Jacksonville Area Legal Aid (JALA). The event, held annually by the Pajcic law firm, features a unique
twist where participants play on a mini-sized golf course using a Wiffle ball. Coughlin competed against former and current Jaguars players, including tight end Brenton Strange, as well as Jacksonville University student-athletes and Dolphins senior vice president and athletic director Alex Ricker-Gilbert. The winner of the shootout earns $6,000 for a charity of their choice, with the Pajcics matching the donation to JALA. The event has been a significant fundraiser for JALA, raising over $1 million to date, with this year's contributions expected to reach $200,000.
Why It's Important?
The Pajcic & Pajcic golf event plays a crucial role in supporting Jacksonville Area Legal Aid, an organization that provides essential civil legal services to the community. The funds raised help JALA cover vital expenses that are not typically funded by grants, such as office costs and salaries. This financial support enables JALA to continue offering services that protect individuals from scams, assist in escaping abusive relationships, and more. The event not only raises significant funds but also brings together community leaders and sports figures, highlighting the importance of collaboration in addressing local legal aid needs.
