Mazda has established an AI transformation department at its Hiroshima headquarters to enhance productivity and counteract financial losses due to U.S. tariffs. The department, currently employing 70 staff
with plans to expand to 400, focuses on streamlining back-office operations such as accounting and procurement. Mazda is deploying generative AI tools like Microsoft's Copilot and OpenAI's ChatGPT to automate routine tasks and consolidate data across platforms.
