What's Happening?
Ram has announced the addition of a 6.7-litre Cummins high-output turbo diesel engine to its Power Wagon lineup, marking a first for the model. The new engine delivers 430 horsepower and 1,075 lb-ft of torque,
which Ram claims is best-in-class for base diesel output. The 2027 model, set to be released in the second half of 2026, will feature enhanced towing and payload capacities, along with new options such as fifth-wheel gooseneck preparation and automatic-levelling rear air suspension. The starting price for this model is set at $88,470.
Why It's Important?
The introduction of the Cummins turbo diesel engine to the Power Wagon lineup underscores Ram's commitment to enhancing the performance and capability of its vehicles. This move is likely to appeal to consumers seeking powerful, off-road-capable trucks with superior towing and payload capacities. The addition of advanced features and options further positions the Power Wagon as a competitive choice in the full-size pickup market. This development is significant for the automotive industry, as it reflects ongoing consumer demand for high-performance vehicles and could influence market dynamics and competition among manufacturers.
